    PUSD Names Principals at Don Benito, Hamilton, and Loma Alta

    Administrator of Oak Knoll Center Day Treatment Program Also Named

    Pasadena Unified School District Superintendent Edwin Diaz today announced that he has named new principals at Don Benito Fundamental School, Hamilton Elementary, and Loma Alta Elementary, and an administrator at the Oak Knoll Center.

    PUSD Ratifies 2009-10 Budget

    Board Affirms Commitment to School Reform, Rejects Further Teacher Layoffs

    The Pasadena Unified School District (PUSD) Board of Education ratified a $186.8 million operating budget for 2009-2010 that includes $12.6 million in cuts to balance the 2008-09 budget, and reflects a $20 million loss of revenue from the State of California for 2009-10.

    PUSD Awarded $1.175 Million To Transform High Schools

    ConnectEd Grant Will Support Multiple Pathways Approach to Prepare Students for College and Career

    PUSD announced that it was awarded a $1.175 million grant to implement a comprehensive high school reform strategy for students throughout PUSD. PUSD is one of six California school districts selected by ConnectEd: the California Center for College and Career, to receive the grants, funded by The James Irvine Foundation. The funds, which are part of the California Multiple Pathways District Initiative, will be used to establish ten high-quality pathway programs organized around career themes or industry sectors.

    Marshall Named Top Public High School By Newsweek Magazine

    School ranks among top 6 percent of high schools for 7th consecutive year

    Pasadena Unified School District (PUSD) announced that Marshall Fundamental School has been named one of Newsweek magazine’s Top Public High Schools for the seventh consecutive year. Every year, the list is compiled by Washington Post education columnist Jay Mathews, and includes only the top six percent of high schools nationwide.

    Altadena Elementary School to Host College and Career Neighborhood Block Party

    Altadena Elementary School will host a resource fair and neighborhood block party that focuses on college and career success on Friday, June 12.

    The event includes classroom presentations about career opportunities in law, media, medicine and the arts; workshops for parents on how to start their children on multiple pathways to success in college and careers, student performances and a barbecue.

    PUSD Students to Compete in Pasadena's First Model United Nations Conference

    Pasadena Unified School District (PUSD) high school students will compete in Pasadena’s first city-wide Model United Nations Conference at Pasadena City College (PCC) on Friday, June 12. The conference is an all-day event that focuses on the politics of water in the Middle East.

    Pasadena Unified School District (PUSD) graduates will participate in a Latino Student Recognition Ceremony sponsored by a partnership of numerous community organizations on Sunday, June 14. The annual ceremony celebrates students’ personal success and academic achievements in the spirit and tradition of Latino culture.

    PUSD Names New Wilson Middle School Principal

    Sarah Rudchenko led Hamilton Elementary to National Blue Ribbon Nomination

    Pasadena Unified School District (PUSD) Superintendent Edwin Diaz today announced that he has named Sarah Rudchenko as principal at Wilson Middle School, which serves approximately 740 sixth through eighth grade students. Over the past seven years, Principal Rudchenko has served as the principal of Hamilton Elementary, a California Distinguished School and a current nominee for the National Blue Ribbon Achievement award.
