    Pasadena Youth Council Applications Being Accepted

    Attention Students: Are you interested in civic leadership opportunities? Do you want to play an active role in your community? If so, the City of Pasadena is recruiting for seats on the Pasadena Youth Council. Application deadline is Friday, May 8 at 5:00 PM.     2009 Aim High College Scholarships

    College Scholarships Available For PUSD Class of 2009
    The Pasadena Educational Foundation will again be awarding scholarships to PUSD graduating seniors in the Class of 2009 who plan to attend four-year colleges/institutions. Deadline for this year's applications is February 18, 2009. Applications for high school seniors are now available. Three types of scholarships will be awarded this year:

    • Inspiration Awards for students planning to attend a 4-year college and/or university and have a 3.5 grade point or higher. Scholarship is $2,500 a year for 4 years.
    • Incentive Awards for students planning to attend a 4-year college and/or university and have a 3.0 or higher. Scholarship is $1,000 a year for 4 years.
    • Hope Awards for students planning to attend a community college. Scholarship is a one-time award of $1,000.

    Awards will be based on academic merit and financial need. Criteria will include academic achievement, extra curricular activities, and applicant’s future goals.

    GSMTW Podcast of Les Mizery

    The 2008 GATE Summer Musical Theater Workshop has its own Podcast! Follow along as award winning writer/director Ryan Scott Oliver and students from all across PUSD put together this year's production of "Les Mizery". From the auditions, to the grueling rehearsals, to interviews with Ryan and the cast, get to know this remarkable group of students then come see their performance on July 31st at 7pm or August 1st at 10:30 and 7pm at the Wilson Middle School Auditorium.     High School Hub offers a comprehensive collection of lecture notes, articles, reference links, interactive activities, and lessons to help students deepen and expand their understanding of nine content areas, including biology, earth science, and world languages. The site also offers sections on current events, reference tools and resources, games and puzzles, and study strategies.
    Pink Monkey
    PinkMonkey, a free study resource for students in middle school and above, offers booknotes, literature summaries, and chapter notes for nearly 400 literature titles, from Absalom, Absalom to A Yellow Raft in Blue Water. Students also can access study guides in 15 other subject areas, including algebra, chemistry, statistics, and world history. The site also provides an SAT study area, where students can practice study skills, complete study projects, and locate state testing resources.
