    Altadena Elementary School to Host College and Career Neighborhood Block Party

    Altadena Elementary School will host a resource fair and neighborhood block party that focuses on college and career success on Friday, June 12.

    The event includes classroom presentations about career opportunities in law, media, medicine and the arts; workshops for parents on how to start their children on multiple pathways to success in college and careers, student performances and a barbecue.

    John Muir High School Announces Two Gates Millennium Scholars

    Pasadena Unified School District (PUSD) announced today that two seniors from John Muir High School were awarded the highly-coveted Gates Millennium Scholarship for outstanding minority high school students. The scholarship is awarded to students with significant financial needs so that they can attend the undergraduate and graduate institutions of their choice. John Muir High School seniors Claudia Lima-Rocha and Breana Powell were among 1,000 students nationwide to be designated as Gates Millennium Scholars.

    PUSD to Host Dual Language Immersion Meetings

    Kindergarten and 1st Grade English/Spanish and English/Mandarin Classes Start September 2009

    The Pasadena Unified School District (PUSD will hold informational meetings about its new English/Spanish and English/Mandarin dual language immersion program that begins in September 2009. English speakers and English learners receive instruction in English and a target language in the same classroom. The language of instruction alternates during the school day to encourage fluency in both languages.

    Community Resource Fair

    Join PUSD's Child Development Department in celebrating the 2008 Community Resource Fair! All community members, parents, children, and youth, ages Pre-school through 12th grade (accompanied by an adult), are invited to participate in an afternoon full of information and activities ranging from story telling and art activities, to nutritious snacks and college information! Please join us at the Education Center front parking lot on Friday, May 16, 2008 from 3:30 - 6:30pm.




    Learn to Help Your Children Succeed in School!

    Wilson Middle and Willard IB Schools are partnering with the Willard Children’s Center to present their annual Parents Expectation Support Achievement (PESA) parenting program. Socorro Rocha, Community Assistant for Wilson says that the PESA program provides parents with the opportunity to 'assist their children to do better in school and to guide them to success.' One parent stated 'I know this program will help me...communicate in a better way with my children.'

    PESA - Helping Parents Prepare Their Children For Success

    The Parent Expectations Support Achievement (PESA) Parenting Program kicks off the new school year at Jefferson School and Jefferson Children's Center.

    Connie de la Torre, Community Assistant at Jefferson School loves to help her parents by assisting them to possess the necessary tools to motivate and guide their children toward success. One such way is by facilitating their annual Parent Expectations Support Student Achievement (PESA) program at her school site in partnership with Jefferson Children's Center.
